Lagos Ikoyi Elite Lions Club has opened a new chapter in its service history with the election of Lion TPl. CTN Soledotun Abdulkarim-Yusuf, MJF, NLCF, as President for the 2026–2027 Lions Year. In a message to members, the new President described the role as “a rare honour” and called for renewed dedication to the club’s motto: “We Serve.” The new Lions Year, which runs from July 1, 2026, is expected to focus on stronger impact, membership growth, and leadership excellence across District 404A3.
For Abdulkarim-Yusuf, the appointment marks a full-circle moment in Lionism. She previously led the Lagos Ikoyi Lions Club during the 2017–2018 service year. Her return to the presidency, now at the Elite chapter, signals continued trust from the membership and a sustained commitment to humanitarian ideals. Being entrusted with this leadership role for a second time is both a rare honour and a testament to her enduring commitment to service.
The new President will not be leading the club alone. She has also been appointed as the Global Leadership Team, GLT, Coordinator for Lions International District 404A3 for the 2026–2027 year. The dual role places her at the center of both club administration and district-wide leadership development. According to her,the positions will be used to “promote leadership excellence, membership engagement, impactful service, and the growth of Lionism at both the club and district levels.”
Outlining her agenda, Abdulkarim-Yusuf said she envisions a club that is “united, vibrant, innovative, and service-driven.” The focus areas for the year include impactful humanitarian projects, strategic membership growth, leadership training, stronger fellowship, and partnerships that will expand the club’s reach. The goal, she said, is for Lagos Ikoyi Elite Lions Club to continue setting the standard for excellence within District 404A3.
The President urged members to recommit to the Lions philosophy as the year begins. “As we begin this new Lions journey together, let us renew our commitment to our motto, ‘We Serve,’”She emphasized that the year presents another opportunity for the club to “touch lives, strengthen our communities,unity in service with humility and create lasting impact through meaningful service.”
A key thrust of the new administration will be active member participation. Abdulkarim-Yusuf called on every Lion to attend meetings faithfully, support service projects, and contribute their unique skills and ideas. She stressed that the club’s success will depend on collective effort and the diversity of talent within its ranks.
In her capacity as GLT Coordinator, the President is expected to drive leadership development across the district. Lions International’s GLT structure is designed to train, motivate, and retain quality leaders. Her appointment therefore signals an intent to deepen capacity building, mentor emerging leaders, and ensure a stronger leadership pipeline for the district.
Lagos Ikoyi Elite Lions Club is known for its consistency in community projects, health interventions, youth empowerment, and disaster relief. Abdulkarim-Yusuf said the new year will be about protecting that legacy while building a stronger future. “Together, we will continue to uphold the proud legacy of Lagos Ikoyi Elite Lions Club”.
The President’s message struck a tone of unity and teamwork. She called on members to embrace the year “with renewed passion, unwavering commitment, and the spirit of teamwork.” The expectation is for increased collaboration among members, zones, and partner organizations to deliver measurable outcomes in 2026–2027.
Closing her address, the President wished every member “a rewarding, impactful, and fulfilling 2026–2027 Lions Year.” He ended with a three-part charge that will serve as the administration’s mantra: “Together, We Serve. Together, We Lead. Together, We Make a Difference.” With experience, district backing, and a clear roadmap, Lagos Ikoyi Elite Lions Club begins the year with strong momentum.
